2011 RGFFL Peteetong Bowl

2011 Final Regular Season League Standings

RGFFL Week 15 Recap and Week 16 Playoff Schedule (Tuesday Hangover Edition) – December 20, 2011
From The Office of the RGFFL Commissioner
The 2011 Peteetong Bowl finals are set…..
The top seed Herman of Dunwoody (Teabaggers) was upset by Tim Andrews (The Cumming Beavers) by only 2 points in the first of two RGFFL semi final matchups. Andy Dalton’s (QB – CIN) poor 6 point performance hurt Herman the most in his league matchup with Tim Andrews. The Cumming Beavers were led by a 32 point performance by Tony Romo (QB – DAL) and 14 fantasy points from Torrey Smith (WR – BAL). Herman almost made an incredible comeback on Monday Night Football with 18 points from his San Francisco defense, but came up short.
In the other semi-final league matchup, Eric Von Haessler (The Shock Jox) was no match for RGFFL commissioner Jeff Boggis (The Sultan of Stats). The Shock Jox were blown off the field of play by the score of 137 – 88. Von Haessler was frustrated as he watched Hakeem Nicks drop a sure touchdown. His frustration grew as Tom Brady threw to tight end Aaron Hernandez as opposed to his tight end, Rob Gronkowski. Hernandez ended up with 20 fantasy points while Gronkowski had a measly 5 fantasy points.
So the 2011 Peteetong Bowl is set. This is Tim Andrews’ 2nd consecutive trip to the Peteetong Bowl and Tim will be defending his right to another Dugan-scratching trophy. This is Jeff Boggis’ 2nd Peteetong Bowl, with is last trip back in 2008 when he lost to Larry Wachs (Jews). When breaking down the Peteetong Bowl matchup, Las Vegas odds currently list Jeff Boggis as a 1 point favorite over Tim Andrews. This is like Alabama vs. LSU in the BCS championship. Both teams have the ability to put up a lot of points, but it will come down to the play at QB as Tom Brady faces Miami at home and Tony Romo hosts the Philadelphia Eagles. The outcome of the Peteetong Bowl won’t be known until late Monday night as Jeff Boggis is done on Saturday, but Tim Andrews currently has 3 players in his lineup that are going on Monday Night Football. Good luck to both teams.
Herman of Dunwoody will take on Eric Von Haessler in the 3rd place game. Rob Roberts (Yogis) beat Sebas (The Aerostars) 120-63 in the 5th place game.
In the consolation bracket, Southside Steve Rickman (Southside Steve’s) will take on Larry Wachs (Jews) in the 7th place game (RGFFL Consolation Bowl). Andy West (Smyrna Sandcats) will host Jason Cofar (BAMA Bruiser) in the 9th place game. In the game for last place, Bert Kreischer (Sparkle Motion) beat Will Turpin (Soul Will Roll) by the score of 101-78.
One game on Thursday night, with most games being played on Christmas Eve day. There is one Christmas night game and there is the Monday night game with Atlanta at New Orleans.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah,
Jeff Boggis

2011 RGFFL Draft Recap
1. Southside Steve Rickman (Southside Steve’s)
Started strong with the #1 overall pick with Adrian Peterson, but it went all downhill fast from there. Granted, if I were tagging Nasty Cat or some other women during the draft, I’d also be unfocused. I can see the conversation going something like this “Hey Steve, how about we draft a kicker in round 6?” “OK baby, keep doing what you are doing and I’ll do it for you.” I think Steve panicked when all of the elite QB were drafted in rounds 1 and 2 so he drafted Matt Ryan with his 2nd pick. Matt Ryan is a very good QB, but not in round 2. Peyton Hillis will suffer from the Madden curse and Southside Steve may be in jeopardy of not making the playoffs this season for the first time in 4 years.

2. The Shock Jox (Eric Von Haessler)
The Shock Jox were one of 2 teams along with Seabas on robo draft. The song “Mr. Roboto” in Eric’s new theme song since he was on robo draft. Apparently Eric didn’t get the memo that Peyton Manning may miss most of the season as Eric drafted a total of 3 Indianapolis Colts. Going with Kevin “corn on the” Kolb as your starting QB will be a challenge, but overall, not a bad team!

3. The Cumming Beavers (Tim Andrews)
Following in true spirit of Dragon Con, Tim Andrews’ draft was a “cyborg” as he actually drafted on robo draft the first two rounds then drafted online in person for the rest of the draft. The defending RGFFL league champion had a very strong draft and I look for Tim to once again make the RGFFL playoffs. My advice would be for Tim to trade Josh Freeman to Eric Von Haessler and upgrade at #2 running back.

4. The Jews (Larry Wachs)
Larry rolled the dice early and his success or demise this season will depend on Michael Vick’s performance. If Vick can play all season, then Larry will easily make the RGFFL playoffs and the Peteetong Bowl. Even if Vick is out a couple of games, Sam Bradford is a strong backup. Good to see that you drafted Sidney Rick again this year. He should be 100% and a viable #2 WR. I’m big on Steve Johnson in Buffalo this season. I feel that you can rotate Knowshon Moreno, Fred Jackson, Joseph Addai, and Ryan Grant all season long, based off of their weekly matchup and dominate the league. Well played Mr. Jews, well played.

5. Teabaggers
Herman From Dunwoody got off to a good draft with Ray Rice in round one, but was completely thrown off his Tea Party game plan when The RGFFL Commish drafted Tom Brady in round 1. He tried to recover by drafting three New England Patriots in Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez, and Danny Woodhead, but it was too little, too late. This left Herman with no legit #2 running back as he drafted C.J. Spiller and Danny Woodhead. No RGFFL playoffs for Herman this season. Herman’s draft approval rating is even lower than Obama.

6. BAMA Bruiser (Jason Cofar)
In my opinion, BAMA Bruiser is the team to beat in 2011. What did we expect when he had both Herman of Dunwoody and Seabas drafting on both sides of him? There is no way with the #6 overall pick that Chris Johnson should fall to him. In most drafts, Johnson is being drafted either 2nd or 3rd overall. To follow that up, he lands the #2 overall wide receiver in Roddy White with the 19th overall pick. Cofar then drafts two solid running backs in Matt Forte and LeGarrette Blount, and it is game, set, match, Cofar!

I’m not sure what annoys me more; Andy’s team name or his constant “hurry up and pick” smack talk on the chat board. He has the all Alabama rookie team with Ingram and Jones, but he took them way too early in the draft. Andy and Sebas will battle for last place all season.

A decent draft as he has Brees at QB, but a lot of things have to go Bert’s way this season. Larry Fitzgerald has to rely on Kevin Kolb, Frank Gore has to stay healthy, and can Reggie Wayne produce without the possibility of Peyton Manning? Wells and Lynch could help, so never underestimate Bert’s commitment to Sparkle Motion!

11. The Sultan of Stats (Jeff Boggis)
As unbiased as possible, the QB run was on in round 1, so knowing that Will Turpin of Soul Will Roll would also be jumping on a QB right after me, I took Tom Brady. I followed this up with taking the best WR/RB/TE on the board. My other goal was to draft the top defense with Pittsburgh. Not a great team, but one that can contend. Always difficult to draft from the 11th slot and not getting laid during the draft.

Solid first two picks with Andre Johnson and Philip Rivers. I’d still draft Collective Soul over Journey though.

3. Southside Steve Rickman - Team Name "Southside Steve's"
"Southside Steve" has been entertaining Atlanta on the air and in the streets for over two decades now. So if there's one guy who knows exactly what the southside needs, he would be that guy. As one of the members of Atlanta's favorite morning show "The Regular Guys" on Rock100.5 and 105.5 in Macon, Steve Rickman as he is known to family and close friends is known as "Southside Steve" to the rest of us. He envisioned a Smokey and the Bandit themed bar based on the 1977 Burt Reynolds film with touches of flair from Coyote Ugly. Southside wanted to give back to the side of town where he grew-up and to be able to provide a venue that could showcase the best of local and nationally touring bands as well as being able to transform itself into the best dance club in these parts.
